The Training and Education Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing and Alternative and Renewable Technologies (TEC-SMART)

Through the development of TEC-SMART, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) are uniting their vision for a successful and thriving future for high-tech and environmentally sound technologies in the Capital Region and beyond. With the assistance of Senator Bruno, New York State has designated $13 million to make this vision a reality by establishing TEC-SMART at the Saratoga Technology + Energy Park^® (STEP^®), in Malta, New York.

The training center will prepare skilled technicians to meet the demands in growing industrial sectors that develop and manufacture semiconductors, photovoltaics, wind turbines, geothermal products, alternative fuels, and energy-efficient buildings.

TEC-SMART will serve the region, State, and nation as the premiere resource for training and education for semiconductor manufacturing and alternative-energy technologies. In so doing, New York State will be established as a national leader in meeting the workforce demands for industries that provide products and services integral to ensuring quality of life and economic prosperity in the 21st Century.
